Maybe Tom Crist, aged 64, could have bought a yacht or a luxurious new private airplane when he discovered he had won one of Calgary’s biggest jackpots in history, but instead he decided to do something for the greater good and donate all his proceedings to charitable causes aimed at fighting cancer.
Crist’s own wife passed away from cancer last year when she was 57. The 64-year-old former CEO and his children are now inspired to donate the $40 million prize money to the Canadian Cancer Society as well as the Tom Baker Cancer Center where Crist’s wife was looked after. Crist stated in a public appearance that he is going to put the money in a family trust fund that will be used to fund a variety of charities chosen by him and his family.
The 64-year-old low-key man discovered about his lottery winnings while he was playing golf and did not tell a single person at first. He even continued playing after receiving the good news via phone call. Crist stated that he plays lottery online and he only subscribes once a year without even noticing what games and numbers he plays.

On April Fools’ Day in 1957 almost everyone in the UK got fooled by a 3-minute news report broadcast featured in the BBC world news TV show “Panorama”. The audience watched with great attention and astonishment how a family in Switzerland is joyfully harvesting spaghetti sticks from the family’s “spaghetti tree” planted in the back yard of the house.

It turns out that at the time spaghetti was actually considered an exotic food and very little people were aware it was actually made out of water and wheat flour. To make the phony broadcast even more believable it was narrated by the well respected broadcaster Richard Dimbleby.
The Swiss Spaghetti hoax was so successful that it generated an enormous response from the audience. The very next day after millions watched it on live TV BBC’s phones started ringing frantically. People were curious to find out exactly how to grow the infamous spaghetti tree in their own back yards and were curious to get some tips. The BBC’s alleged response was just to put a sprig of spaghetti in a big tin of tomato sauce and just hope for the best.
To this day on the infamous “Panorama” broadcast remains as one of the most elaborate and popular April Fool’s Day jokes of all time which was orchestrated by a serious news media.]\

However, the two ‘Twilight’ stars are planning on spending New Year’s Eve together, just the two of them and some close friends. Both actors have shared they would like to get away from L.A. and all that Hollywood glamour and noise. What is more, Kristen would like to go to the Isle of Wight where she and Rob have spent many holidays in the past. The 23-year-old actress has expressed her desire for a simple celebration : in a pub, listening to music, laughing, having a good time and, of course, with Rob by her side.

Did You Know That A Man Said His Dog Ate His Money And The US Treasury….

Wayne Klinkel from Helena, Montana who works as a graphic designer for the Independent Record, the local newspaper, got into a serious predicament with his own dog Sundance. Klinkel’s unique one-eyed golden retriever Sundance once had for lunch a very expensive meal.

While the graphic designer and his wife were having lunch at a local restaurant, Sundance was left locked inside their car. In there the poor canine got extremely annoyed after being left all locked up and alone and therefore decided to have lunch by ingesting 5 banknotes of $100 each. The cash was hidden somewhere in the car’s boxlike compartment.
After discovering what Sundance had done, Wayne Klinkel decided to wait out for the dog to do his business and followed him everywhere he went meticulously picking up after him. He kept the plastic bag with the dog excrement frozen in the winter snow outside for months before finally deciding to act and attempt to retrieve the messed up cash.
Klinkel used an old metal mining screen, a hose and a bucket of soapy water to manually clean the remnants of the $100 bills. After successfully completing this messy process Klinkel went straight to the Federal Reserve in Helena but his request for reimbursement was unfortunately denied. He was then advised to contact the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Mutilated Currency Division. He duct taped the remnants and sent them inside an envelope to the department along with a notarized letter.
Although Klinkel did not expect anything to happen, 6 months after he had sent the letter he received a surprising $500 reimbursement check from the U.S. Department of Treasury.
